ZeroTrash El Morro School!

I spoke @ 2 lunchtime assemblies today for El Morro Elementary School campus clean-up in Laguna Beach.  Over 150 elementary schoolers “Picked” trash & recyclabes from their playing fields.  It was inspiring! They were pumped.  Spread the word to your kids, get them recycling at home; Picking Up the earth when and wherever they see it.  Next El Morro Pick It Up! event:  Earth Day!

On 1st SATURDAY, October 3rd, our 24th consecutive “Pick It Up!” community event, our adopters cleared 340 lbs of  TRASH &  510 lbs of RECYCLABLES from Laguna’s STREETS & beaches.  Cigarette BUTTS comprise a disproportionate percent of the Trash haul.  But(!)  we have made progress.

By working with the City of Laguna Beach we have successfully lobbied for the placement of over 40 ashtrays around town as attachments to the existing aggregate city containers.  Nice to see them being used, too!

Our latest 1st SATURDAY “Pick It Up!” locations to which you can report are:   Tex Haines’ Victoria Skimboards in The Canyon.  And Jeff Kash’s United Studios of Self Defense in So Lag joining forces with Yogaworks.  It’s cool to have them help expand our Laguna footprint.
